I don't scrap a lot, but I thought I'd share this sick animated render of the E-Fidget (my pet project for the last 2 years) I made in Blender! It took 3-ish hours to render on my 3090. Fun fact: 360 3840x3840 uncompressed PNGs are about 20GB...
I sucessfully breadboarded the E-Fidget to make sure that the next order will work!
I put some posters up at my school!
Oh no...
#wonderland pics!
Day 10 of #10-days-in-public - For the last day, I'm celebrating this terrible score on a MULTIPLE CHOICE ham radio test 🙃
Day 9 of #10-days-in-public - oh noes, math in ham radio! what ever shall I do?
Day 8 of #10-days-in-public - One more lesson done for my ham radio study!
Day 7 of #10-days-in-public - Did some field operation!
Day 6 of #10-days-in-public, started lesson 10 of my studying!
Day 5 of #10-days-in-public - Retook the test I failed yesterday. That's more like it!
Day 4 of #10-days-in-public - looks like I'll be retaking this ham radio practice test...
#10-days-in-public day 3 - a random SSTV CQ I got on the radio!
#10-days-in-public day 2! I made some contacts on the air last night with my ham radio - here's me operating SSTV!Day 1 for #10-days-in-public, progress to date + started Lesson 9 for my Ham Radio Extra exam studying!
It's been a while since I've done a full update on the E-Fidget, so here it is:
Version 4 was funded by #onboard, and it didn't quite work out (assorted issues with wiring and the relay-as-haptic-feedback idea)
Version 5 was sponsored by PCBWay, and worked quite well with a linear resonant actuator for haptic feedback.
Version 6 was a minor revision, with just a few tweaks.
Version 7 added rechargeable battery support, but used an obscure, hard-to-source battery and was too expensive to sell easily.
Version 8 was a complete redesign, following the same shape, size, and look of V7, but using a different microcontroller and a more common battery. It's still on the way!
Now, everyone's favorite part: Pictures!
Black is V4, Purple is V6, Blue with the big logo is V7, and other blue is V8!
JLCPCB emailed me to say that the buttons on my E-Fidget PCBs have pins outside of the solder pads (red is good, yellow is bad), how's your day going?
(I YOLO'ed it, it'll be fiiiine. Right?)
Ordered E-Fidgets 🙂
continuing work on my hackathon website, baby steps ✨
finally making a custom website for my hakcathon! please excuse my ugly HTML, I'm a little rusty
never before have i felt so represented
E-FIDGETS ARRIVED! :60fps-parrot:
Passed my ham radio Technician exam last night 🥳
:party-parrot: HAM RADIO :party-parrot:
This happened yesterday, but I made a logo for my PCB design hackathon in northern Virginia!
Submitted my second OnBoard PR 🥳
Have you ever yearned for KiCad on Android? Yeah, me neither. Here it is anyways.
Repainted my soldering iron today 'cause the paint was getting chipped 🙂
A quick little video of the E-Fidget Lite in its half-functioning state :)E-Fidget Lite V1 didn't work out, but V2 is already good to order (yes, I've double-triple checked!) Check #onboard if you want more details.
I emulated and tested the E-Fidget Lite code, and it seems to work! Still waiting for them to arrive, though...
Continuing work on the E-Fidget Lite firmware as I compulsively check USPS, how's your day going?
My Onboard-supported PCB fidgets will arrive any day now, so I'm writing the firmware ✨
Brainstorming a blackberry phone + calculator hybrid device, based on the RP2040, with a friend! It's in very early development, but I'm excited to see where it goes!
Just wrapped up the PCB design for a haptic feedback fidget, the E-Fidget Lite! This'll be the 4th E-Fidget.
